Chevy, Dodge, Ford and GMC manufacture the most popular models of cargo vans. Commercial cargo vans can be rented for moves, hauling, and ventures requiring transport of goods overland. A cargo van may have a diesel engine and require additional licenses and insurance to drive. Routes for cargo van transit should be carefully planned as not all roads and throughfares are approved for multiple axle vehicles. Tires, highway safety, and operational procedures for larger trucks like cargo vans may require a change in normal vehicle driving and adaptation to local traffic codes.

Loading a cargo van for freight hauling is not the same as packing a van for a leisure trip. Cargo vans weather titanic amounts of load bearing stress while driving. Loads must be balanced, assessed for terrain and road safety, and in some cases secured from rolling, shifting, or settling in a manner that may affect tire balance or wheel and steering alignment.  Fuel for diesel cargo vans will be different than regular gas, and drivers need to plan for fuel stops accordingly.
